Experiments (Single-Day Classes)
I’m in my third decade of teaching, and while I love helping students get better and better, one thing I think is missing once students get past the basic levels, is a collaborative and supportive space to experiment. I’m intent on setting a hypothesis, presenting a common problem, and creating a community that can troubleshoot different methods of solving said problems. These classes will be one-offs, loosely structured like a workshop, but the intent is not to perfect a specific scene, it’s to use your scene as a vehicle to experiment with different ways of tackling the theme of our class. Auditors are welcome!
Six-Week Labs
You’ve taken the classes, you know that acting is reacting and listening is paramount. I trust that you can drop into a scene and your emotional toolbox is well-equipped. Let’s take what you learned at your acting studio, and build on it. And while we’re at it, let’s discuss whether the methods you’ve developed are actually working for you.
Coming from a casting background, Claire Koonce Classes is about building on what you’ve learned from other classes in order to analyze and challenge the choices you’re making, and ensure they’re coming across as effectively as you intend. This is not about telling you what to do, it’s about readjusting your approach to scene and character, and readjusting your understanding of yourself, in order to maximize your unique skillsets.
